The University of Ilorin has banned the sale of hand-out by lecturers to students of the university. The Management had earlier banned the sale, but are still using this medium to remind the lecturers and students that the Ban still stands.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor said, “Let me use this opportunity to remind everybody that the University’s position on the sales of hand-outs, journals, and lecturers’ publication is still in force. No staff should sell his/her hand-out to students under any guise. They can only be recommended. The University Bookshop is there as the appropriate point of sales of such materials”.

She appealed to everybody to join hands with the University Administration to keep the flag of the University flying high, saying, “We can’t afford to turn back”.
The ban of hand-out sale according to reliable sources was to reduce exploitation by lecturers.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor said that the programme had achieved its purpose, but staff should do more if they need to be like others, adding, “Some two years ago, the University upgraded its bandwidth with N2 million to STM4 to facilitate teaching, learning and research”. She, however, added that “the University notes that the resources have not been maximally utilised by the entire University community.”
